Problems Of Romanian Language In „Transilvania” Magazine In The Years Before The Great Union
Being an organ of the Transylvanian Association for Romanian Literature and the Culture of the Romanian People, the „Transilvania” Magazine conducted a campaign for the cultivation and promotion of the Romanian language. The editors and collaborators understood that the development of the consciousness of national unity must take place on the basis of spiritual-religious and the linguistic unity among the Romanians. Among the desires of the Transylvanian scholar were, besides the dissolution of serfdom and the equality of rights between the nationalities of Transylvania, also the national union of all Romanians. Our paper is an overview of the linguistic research hosted by „Transilvania” during the First World War until Romania’s Great Union in 1918.
