Rezumat
Proper names of the characters in novels written by Duiliu Zamfirescu
The aim of this study are proper names of the characters in novels written by Duiliu Zamfirescu, respectively the cycle known as Comăneştenii (which includes the volumes: Country Life, Tanase Scatiu, During the war, Straightenings and Anna) and the novel Lydda. Poet, playwright and novelist, Duiliu Zamfirescu remains in the history of Romanian literature through the series of novels dedicated to the Comăneşteni-family, as a precursor to domestic realism and as an author with modern insights, although contradicted by the obsolescence of his prose. On the onomastic level, his text proves to be interesting enough, even if not very rich in meanings, and reflects a realistic poetic type, which means the adequacy of the environmental and character names, avoiding symbolic or caricatured harshness.
