Konrad Lorenz Talking to the Animals: The So-Called Evil and the Civilized Man’s Deadly Sins
The current state of the Western civilization cannot be understood with no appeal to the intricate relationship between culture and nature. Based on the major findings produced during the last decade by ethology, and more especially by Konrad Lorenz, the article explores several key issues defining the Western civilization decay. The overcrowding of the cities, the low levels of social capital, the economic competition, the marketization of the everyday life, the decay of senses, the denial of genuine tradition, the destruction of the environment and the spread of weapons of mass-destruction, all point towards a significant pathological transformation of the modern society.
