Forms of Cultural Mediation in the Translation Studies Discourse

Translation and comparative studies seem to have one central aspect in common: the mechanisms of exportability. The strategies employed in these fields of study point towards this tendency. This paper proposes a survey into the localised model of Romanian translation studies in order to attempt to examine the new criteria specific to the contemporary trends. Globalization, the digital era and cultural mediation have proven, time and again, that contemporary literary studies work towards breaking the boundaries of national pattern. It would seem that recent endeavours in the field of translation studies build towards preserving the models of cultural mediation, which are nowadays linked to transnational phenomena. My study, therefore, aims to delve into this theoretical and methodological trend and tries to explain a few patterns in the methodologies used in a few recent studies.

Keywords: translation studies, transnational studies, cultural mediation, digital methods, intercultural dialogue
