Ecopoetry & Ecocritics in Recent Romanian Literature
Abstract: : Ecopoetry and ecocriticism are not new subjects for the field of literary studies, although in the Romanian critical discourse there are not many studies on this topic. This paper aims to provide a brief contextualization of the main principles of ecopoetry, using the ecocritical American sources and to underline the necessity of such studies for the better understanding of the ecopoetic literary phenomena, and also to underline the main reasons that delayed the interest in ecological matters in Romanian literature. Those reasons regard not only the historical and political factors but also the literary critical tradition. My purpose is to study how contemporary Romanian poetry reflects not only an ecological mentality, but also an important aesthetic manifestation of those principles. This analysis shows a new kind of sensibility and a new perspective towards the world, which reflects the global ecological context. For this analysis I will use the works of five poets: Ștefan Manasia, Gabi Eftimie, Andrei Doboș, Mihók Tamás and Florin Dumitrescu, which are representative for the Romanian ecopoetry.
Keywords: ecopoetry, ecocriticism, romanian ecopoets, romanian poetry, Ștefan Manasia, Gabi Eftimie, Andrei Doboș, Mihók Tamás, Florin Dumitrescu.
