History and / or Anniversary. Bozgan, Ovidiu și Bogdan Murgescu (coord.), Universitatea din București 1864 – 2014, Editura Universității din București, 2014 [Review / Book Presentation]
The present article aims to draw attention to the importance of the historiography of universities. The imposing volume, University of Bucharest 1864-2014, appeared at the celebration of 150 years since the founding of these institutions. The author analyzes the chances of a scientific endeavor for an anniversary. Focusing on the inter-war and post-war period, it also shows progress towards previous volumes, but also shortcomings that persisted in this volume. In this sense, he welcomes the adequate treatment of the role of Professor Dimitrie Gusti in the development of the university, as well as the misunderstanding of some of his actions. He also noted the more balanced, more structured character of the chapters that covered the period from 1938 to 1989.
