A different perspective on the Gusti school
This paper represents the argument of this collection of articles in the current issue of this journal, dedicated to the Sociological School of Bucharest founded by Prof. Dimitrie Gusti. Unilaterally rehabilitated in the 1960s, forgotten in the post-revolutionary era, the Gusti school is analysed by the contributors from a perspective not employed in the past decades, namely that of social history. The author of this paper emphasizes the fact that this innovative approach of Interbellum sociology represents an aspect of an ongoing trend which builds a different, more balanced, nuanced and fuller view of the Interbellum.
Keywords: sociological school of Bucharest, social history, institutionalisation of sociology, feminist movement, social medicine
