The financial and lands donations of the Rumanian Princes for reconstruction

of some Mount Athos monasteries (the 14th -15th centuries)

An important part of the relations between The Moldavia and Walachia with Oriental Church are those with The Mount Athos monasteries. The relations with Sfetagora were underlined by financial aids or donations of lands for the different communities. The financial donations for the constructions are also done. In the 14th-15th century the rulers of Walachia and Moldavia had the initiative of constructions in The Mount Athos.

In the 14th century the Walachian princes Nicolas Alexander and Vladislav the First had the initiative of constructions in the Kutlumus monastery.

In the 15th century the Moldavian Prince Stephan the Great helped the athonites monasteries Zografou, Vatopedou, Saint Paul, and probably Xenophontos to rebuilt some buildings .
