A Medieval Orpheus: François Villon
The present study is focused on the life and work of François Villon – aiming at proving that he was an Orphic poet, descending like his mythological paragon into a personal and lyrical inferno and returning from there with the poetic materials and vision which, after four centuries, will be necessary to the French poètes maudits who were to originate the poetic modernity – mainly Baudelaire, Rimbaud, and Verlaine.
