Rezumat
Three Printed Editions of the Consecration Preaching of Bishop Grigore Maior, Vienna, 1773
The consecration of the Greek-Catholic Bishop, Grigore Maior, which took place in the Chapel of St. Peter from Vienna, in the presence of the empress and her Court, was not just an important political moment for Romanians living in Transylvania, but also a fashionable one. This paper deals with the consecration preaching conducted by the Viennese Abbot, Anton Ruschitzka, entitled Predigt von der Einigkeit im Christenthume über Johann 17, 20, 21. Besides the German edition of the preaching, the printer, Josep Kurzböck, who has had long ties with Grigore Maior, e. g. he was a censor of Romanian books printed in this typography, also printed a Slavic-Serbian and a Latin one.
We hope that this research, which approaches the subject from a more bibliological point of view, will shed some light on the social history of 18th century Transylvania, as part of the Habsburg Empire. We consider this event of the consecration of a Romanian Greek-Catholic Bishop in Vienna, as being important to contemporary Romanian historiography.
