Street Lighting in Antiquity
During late antiquity a significant change regarding the lighting in public space has taken place: Individual lights were replaced by more or less extensive lighting programs. Now used glass lamps found their location in the arcades of the colonnades. They increased the prestige of the city and its safety in terms of fires and various crimes. So they represent an important urban development step.
