Șanț, or the Beginning of the Post-Monography
Abstract: In this paper, I provide a close evaluation of the two monographic campaigns conducted by Gusti and his collaborators in the Șanț village in the summers of 1935 and 1936. The purpose of the investigation is to evaluate the group dynamic in the context of the campaigns, the scientific acquisitions and the integration of the social action dimensions of the School alongside with the scientific research. The findings show that, although the campaigns were productive in terms of scientific publications, constructive in terms of institutional development, the group dynamic is degrading, and the gap between the interests and projects of D. Gusti and those of his close collaborators is even larger.
