Crime fiction: the 20th century’s genre
Crime fiction is a growing and extremely popular contemporary genre. In England, France and Scandinavia this genre had a great development in the 20th century. In France crime fiction has chanced from being classified as a genre mineur to be recognized as an important part of its patrimoine culturel. In Germany crime fiction became better known and loved in the second half of the 20th century, when the novel escaped the traditional pattern and came to be a critic of the society and political life.
