Aspects of metaphor in political discours
Among the mysteries of human communication, the metaphor remains one of the unsolved problems. Linguists disagree considerably when advancing different theories of metaphor. While some see it as a vague and inadequate form of expression, others consider it as the most essential form of expression in language. Metaphor, be it a difficult concept, not only does it restricts itself in the field of literature or language, but goes beyond them to influence other fields such as philosophy, psychology, logic and more. Using examples of political discourse in the media, this paper tries to investigate some approaches that are not intended to be exhaustive, but rather useful for illustrating the specificity of argumentative discourse.
