Cardinal points on Istro-Romanians’ spiritual evolution
During the seventeenth century, the Catholic developed a complex strategy intended to bring the Orthodox communities of Istro-Romanians under Vatican’s supreme authority. Some of the Catholic churches belonged to the Orthodox peasants, before the final Union with Roma. The study offers a synoptical view of the evolution of this situation, starting with Leopold the Ist’s decision of granting the Serbs freedom of their religious confession in the seventeenth century and ending with the building of a new church in Zejane in 1990.
