Rezumat
The Antidiscrimination Program of the Center for Legal Resources: Interview with Cezara David
Abstract: With twenty years of experience in human rights advocacy within civil society, Cezara David began her career in 2002 at Romani CRISS, a prominent Roma human rights organization, where she worked for more than eleven years, particularly on anti-discrimination campaigns and educational projects. She later led the Anti- Discrimination Program at the Center for Legal Resources (CRJ), an organization founded in 1998 that advocates for the creation and functioning of a legal and institutional framework ensuring the protection of human rights. She is currently part of the team at the Cu Alte Cuvinte Association, which promotes diversity education in early childhood education, and she is in the process of establishing an organization dedicated to freedom of expression and digital safety. As a non-governmental organization, CRJ plays a unique role in Romania’s public sphere. It is the only NGO that independently investigates—separate from state institutions—how public policies related to the rights of persons with disabilities are implemented. Its investigations and reports have played a crucial role in exposing severe abuses in various residential centers responsible for the care of people with disabilities, institutions that operate with public funding and hold legal responsibility for the welfare and health of those in their care. The conversation below took place online. I thank my interlocutor for the openness with which she responded to all the questions.
