A rare Blaj Printing from the Collections of the National Museum of Union Alba Iulia
The collection of old books and documents of the National Museum of Union Alba Iulia is at a national level one of the most valuable owned by analogous institutions. More often than not, restoration works carried out on old books come as a pleasant surprise, meaning fragments of other printings that were used at making the cover support are discovered. Such is the case with the fragment of Forma jurământului (Oath’s shape), printed in Blaj in 1781 and retrieved from the covers of a Bucoavnă (Primer) (Sibiu, 1792). This represents the second known copy of the very important printing, not long ago the copy from the collections of the Romanian Academy Library-Cluj-Napoca Branch being considered unique.
