Conceptual metaphor in TV Journalism. BREXIT Phenomenon
Current media, TV journalism included, mostly attracts and greatly influences the public by means of information and the spectacular. Having to choose from a broad variety of TV talk-how topics, I decided to dwell on the BREXIT process, a subject that has proven to be of a great interest for international and national mass-media. Denoting not only language but human experience as well, the metaphor may construe or remodel reality, offering people in general and journalists in particular the possibility to voice the reality in particular terms. Being that metaphorical language represents in contemporaneity a true modus vivendi, we set to examine some of the conceptual metaphors.
The text corpus has been selected live, from the TV news programs prevalently during BREXIT major upheaval: June, 23-26, 2016.
