Rezumat
The Preverbal Usage of the Prepositions „entre” and „între”
In this article we propose a presentation of the preposition entre and its Romanian equivalent între, as well as a comparative analysis of the preverbs entre and între.
Our analysis starts from the observation that prepositions can become prefixes as a result of a grammaticalization process. This phenomenon takes place both in the French and in the Romanian language. The prefixed verbs we intend to analyze have been selected on the basis of explanatory dictionaries in both languages, and they have been evaluated from a morpho-syntactic and a semantic point of view.
In addition, the parallelism between the prepositions entre and între functions partially at the level of corresponding preverbs, and an extension of the semantic values of the preverbs may be observed.
