Fieldwork on the Romanian-Ukrainian Border in Wartime: An Ethnography of Food Practices
Abstract: This article discusses questions related to the methodology of field research in a context of uncertainty. The observations and conclusions presented here are drawn from an atypical interaction the researchers had with their informants in the context of the war in Ukraine. More specifically, this is a brief presentation and analysis of a field experiment conducted as part of a research project on Romanian food heritage. This subject, important for current Romanian ethnology, has given rise to numerous interventions by the research team at scientific events over the past two years.
