Lakatos Artur, Din culisele luptei pentru putere în rîndurile minorităţilor maghiare din România: relaţiile UPM-PSD la Cluj în 1946
From behind the Scenes: The struggle for power among Hungarian minority from Romania. HPU-SDP Relations in Cluj, in 1946.
The subject of this study is events of struggle for Political Power among members of Hungarian Political Elite from Transylvania, right before Elections in 1946. Our study, based on documents of Political Police from National Archives of Romania, presents two episodes. The first one is related to desires of Hungarian Social-Democrats to create an alternative party to the Hungarian People’s Union, organization considered by them to be a satellite of the Communist Party. The second episode is concerning the openly anti/Communist attitude of Lakatos István, the very popular leader of local labor Unions, and its consequences. Because of this Lakatos had to be removed from local leading positions, and his opponents tried to remove him from the Electoral List for Parliamentary Elections too. These events, unpublished in the daily press, are described in details in documents of the Political Police.
