The Temptation of Reading. The Library, the Other of the Writer

Our article is based on a reflection on Cioran’s library and on the main roles that the writer assigned during his life to the act of reading. We will analyse the most important aspects of the portrait of Cioran as a reader and we will examine the challenges of the intertextual reading, aspect that will allow us to examine in detail the modalities of the self construction in the case of Cioran. The self becomes different (altered) non only during the writing process but also during the reading one. We will also see how reading becomes an existential and artistic basis for the author and the way in which evolves his attitude towards the books that he read and elected according to his own self.
Keywords: Cioran, the practice of reading, intertextual reading, library, identity
