The historian R. W. Seton-Watson (1879-1951), a member of honour of Astra
Among the foreign personalities who constantly supported and showed to the public opinion the question of the nationalities from Austria-Hungary, granting a special attention to the Romanians, was also the British historian R. W. Seton-Watson (1879-1951). For the support given to Romanians between 1905 and 1920, Seton-Watson (Scotus Viator) enjoyed an enormous prestige and uncounted proofs of appreciation from a series of Romanian personalities or political and cultural institutions of Romania, including that from Astra. In 1920, this high forum of culture of the Romanians from Transylvania, who had also important ropes in the political emancipation of the Romanians in Transylvania in the period of the dualism, proclaimed Seton a member of honour, recognizing Scotus Viator as being ”one of the most important friends of the Romanians”.
