A review: Mărgărita Ioana Vulcănescu, Memories – Journal, Vol. 1, Ed. Vitruviu, Bucureşti, 2013, 833 p.
This book combines memories and journal writings of Mărgărita Ioana Vulcănescu (1897-1987), the second wife of Mircea Vulcănescu, one of the leading figures of the so called “young generation” of the Romanian Interwar. These writings bring to the fore the passionate atmosphere of the Criterion period, the daily life of a relatively high class Romanian family, the condition of woman in a specific context, the tragic events of the legionnaire rebellion and the territorial losses of Bessarabia and Northern Ardeal and many other revealing pictures of a lived history.
