Gherea – In the Eve of the Revolution
The present study is focused on the works and public action of Constantin Doborgeanu-Gherea, one of the first Romanian ideologists of socialism. His thinking sided rather with the Mensheviks than with the Bolsheviks – he was, in many respects, a Romanian Kautsky – therefore, his name came to be forbidden or demonised during the dogmatic decades of Romanian communism. He showed that there existed the possibility of a democratic, non-liberticide Romanian left.
Keywords: modern Romanian history, Romanian history of political ideas, socialist thinking in Romania, Constantin Dobrogeanu-Gherea
