Religious event between journalistic act and desacralisation: The relics of St. Andrew in Romania (Octombre 2011)
The research underlines the fact that in most of the cases the secular press promotes the religious events insisting on the commercial aspects, which are tangential related to the event. Also, the main features of the event, the religious and ritualic characteristics are presented as secondary by the secular press. Analysing the media event of the pilgrimage with the relics of St. Apostle Andrew in Romania (Octombre 2011), the article demonstrates that the secular press of our country presented the event focusing especially on the mundane aspect (secondary) to the detriment of the spiritual one (principal) desacralizing the manifestations this way. The research shows that 81% of the surveyed articles are focused on the commercial aspects and only 19% presented the activities in an objective and responsible way, paying attention to the main core of the media event, namely the religious aspects.
