Generation ‘80 between Textualism and Postmodernism
The ideological debates of the last two decades have proposed two main manners of approaching and situating the literature of the Generation ’80: on the one hand, it was read and understood, by critics like Marin Mincu, as an autochtonous realization of the textualist desiderata; on the other hand, the main representatives of the generation (and first of all Mircea Cărtărescu) saw themselves as the first postmodernist generation of the Romanian literature (with the important exception of Alexandru Muşina, who has firmly delimitated himself from post-modernism and designed a new concept and a new ideology: that of anthropocentrism).
Keywords: Romanian literature, Romanian poetry, Generation ’80, textualism, post-modernism.
