Education and Utopia: Ludvig Holberg, ”Nicolai Klimii iter subterraneum” (1741/1745)

Individuals’ education is a fundamental component of the city’s life, reason for which imagining an ideal society involves outlining an educational system, implicitly. In this paper, I propose an analysis of the paideic process suggested by Thomas Morus (Utopia) and by Ludwig Holberg (Nicolai Klimii iter subterraneum), as well as of the way in which – through it – the individual relates to the community. Practically, the analysis of the two works will enable me to highlight different relations between the same terms: individual, education, society.
Keywords: utopia, education, Thomas Morus, Nicolaus Klimius (Niels Klim), Ludwig Holberg
