The Master and the Disciple. Hypostases of the relations between two coryphaei of Romanian sociology: Dimitrie Gusti and Petre Andrei
There are four personalities in the history of Romanian sociology who are almost unanimously recognized as representative for its identity. The four names that stand out through their written works as well as sociological research activities are Dimitrie Gusti, Petre Andrei, Traian Herseni and Henri. H. Stahl. As Dimitrie Gusti has been a professor to the other persons mentioned above, it can be affirmed that he represents a genuine “spiritus vector” for the entire Romanian sociology.
This article outlines the particularities of the intellectual relationship between Dimitrie Gusti – the professor – and his most valued disciple: Petre Andrei. The attractiveness of this article derives from the fact that it mentions both the elements that have allied the professor and the disciple, as well as the elements that have irremediably separated them.
