Două ediții vieneze ale Mavrocordaților – adăugiri la BRV?
Mavrokordatos’s two editions printed in Vienna – additions at “Old Romanian Bibliography”?
With the help of this contribution we bring to the attention of the specialists two editions in the Neo-Greek language, printed in Vienna, printings that we consider that can be placed next to the old Romanian books as they were not described in Old Romanian Bibliography (1508-1830). The authors and the books mentioned, both of whom have been published posthumously are: secret counsellor Alexander Mavrokordatos (1641-1709), Phrontismata, 1805 (two copies) and Nicholas Mavrokordatos (1680-1730), Philotheou Parerga, 1800. The copies are being kept in the Collection of old books from Tulcea Museum. Nicholas Mavrokordatos, the son of the great statesman Alexander Mavrokordatos and the first Phanariot Prince from Romanian Countries, wrote his work during his stay in Sibiu, in 1717-1719, between his two reigns in Walachia. It is considered that these editions, signed by the cultural personalities that crossed their origins and their ties with the Romanian ones, also belong to our history and culture from the Phanariot period. Thus, we believe that these copies could be included inside the Romanian old books, similar editions being included in the great Old Romanian Bibliography.
