Rezumat
The Armed Equipment Of Sibiu in the First Half of the 16th Century
The Ottoman danger to Transylvania at the beginning of the sixteenth century caused Sibiu, like many other cities in the province, to take measures to strengthen the defense. In this sense, Sibiu bought numerous firearms or white weapons from the fortress, but also important quantities of gunpowder or lead powder. All this information was very well captured in the economic and consular records of Sibiu and reflects the seriousness of the situation around the events before and after the Mohács moment. More, Sibiu is actively involved in the fight for the crown of Hungary, on the side of Ferdinand of Habsburg in his fight against Transylvania voivode John Zapolya.
