Dobrogea în perioada migraţiilor pecenege (sec. al XI-lea)*

Dobroudja During Petchenegian Invasion (XI-th Century)

Conquers made by the emperors Nichifor Focas (963- 969), Ioan Tzimiskes (969-976) and Vasile al II-lea (976-1025), looked like they are going to bring along period of peace and prosperity but, afert the death of Vasily the Second starts a new period of decline in the Byzantine Empire. During this period in the Orient, the place of the Arabs is taken by the Selgiucidian Turks, while in the West Normans are starting to reach out. In the Balcanians and at Southern Danube, after the Bulgarians and the Russians, the populations from the steps appear (Petchenegians, Udians and Cumans) which will be a continuous threat during the XI-th century. During repeated invasions (especially Petchenegian) numerous sites from Dobroudja were affected or permanently distroyes and in the teritory at the southern Danube a great crisis is installed, crisis at which the Byzantine Empire was almost unable to react.
