Social-political dimensions of Petre Andrei’s works
The presentation in this article-review focuses on the book titled Dimensiuni social-politice ale operei lui Petre Andrei [Social-political dimensions of Petre Andrei’s works], edited by Doru Tompea and Daniel Șandru, in course of publication at the Romanian Academy Press. The texts included into this volume discuss Petre Andrei’s contribution to the development of Romanian sociology, some aspects of his sociological-political analysis of such phenomena as bolshevism and fascism, the main landmarks of his theory on the development of the Romanian education system, his manner of understanding the activity of political men, the social and political elements that influenced Romania’s cultural and societal growth, and the references specific to the anthropological analysis that Andrei applied to the social sphere. All these are approached from a perspective that aims to identify the connections established between the main directions in his works and the debates that are currently animating the European area. This is why we believe that this volume may become a very useful critical tool, both for the historians of Romanian culture and the professionals and students active in the fields of philosophy, sociology, and political science.
