Among the effigies of Argentina – the gaucho, the Tango, its special wines etc. –, one must undoubtedly include thePeron couple, Juan Domingo Peron and Evita Duarte Peron. The Argentine leaders have launched “Peronism”, aneconomic doctrine with important social reverberations. The present study observes the genesis of this doctrine, itsproliferation and its coordinates. It also surveys the way Argentina developed during Peronism, and aims at evaluating ifthe doctrine is still valid.
