The Typology of Wooden Churches from Mureş Valley, Hunedoara County
This study aims to analyze the wooden churches from Mureş Valley Basin Hunedoara County. The monuments, as part of national heritage, reflect both common features with churches throughout the country and regional and particular characteristics which offer their uniqueness. Tradition and experience in wood craftsmanship is reflected in the true masterpieces of folk architecture that have survived over the centuries. Respecting the construction stages and spaces that make churches, emphasizes the continuity of spirituality and progress in art, this skills and talent being transmitted to future generations.
From foundation stone which offer a strong base to walls with or without painting, ceilings and arches, until the roof with fast pitches and tower that pass through the sky, all up compound a space for the soul.
Simplicity and complexity of these monuments are the message of modest people who raised real ”museum” for us as a result of “collaboration” of man with the wood, with nature.
