Curative Conservation and Restoration of a Stove Tile
slotbar giriş
Abstract: The article presents the operations of conservation and restoration of a ceramic tile from the facade of a tiled stove. This stove tile dates back to the eighteenth century and was produced in Brasov. Today it is part of the ethnographic collection of the Interethnic Museum of the Hârtibaciu Valley. The technological flow of the conservation and restoration of the piece includes operations such as: removing the dust; eliminating the adherent dirt from the enameled surface; strengthening the enamel coating; cleaning the inner side of the tile; drying the fragments; gluing the fragments together; filling in the missing part; eliminating excess material; grouting the joining areas between the edges; restoring the embossed decoration; finishing of additions and grouting; removing plaster powder; chromatic integration; protective coating; presenting the working methods, materials and substances used for each operation. We also considered it necessary to make some recommendations regarding the handling and the storage of the restored piece.
