“Confusion became a way of life”. The Security Dossier of the Poet Georg Hoprich
udying this dossier from the Security Archives, the literary historian Stefan Sienerth highlights and analyses aspects oft he writers’ prosecution and of the literary censorship during the Communist period. The poet Georg Hoprich was accusedo f country betrayal, because he did not dedicate his work to the Socialist Romania, the accusations being based on delationa nd false testimony. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, but he was released by amnesty after more than threey ears. Being unable to adapt to the everyday life, as he was still prosecuted by the Security, he committed suicide.
