The book entitled Life as an instant. Autobiographical benchmarks (translation from Romanian Viața ca o clipă. Repere autobiografice) of the famous marketing professor Iacob Catoiu, originary from Gura Raului, marks the career end of the reputed specialist in marketing, with an amazing scientific honors list and with almost 48 years of academic career. The article presents the coordinates of this absolutely exceptional career. Professor Iacob Catoiu was one of the people who opened the way for marketing in Romania, PhD coordinator, a long time Dean of the Marketing Faculty of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. During his life sequences, the author remembers life stages, PhD studies done in America, pedagogical and scientific devotion, life difficulties, but also success and the joy of professional recognition.
