Che cos’è la dignità? Un approccio quasi teologico

What is Dignity? An Almost Theological Approach

When examining the concept of dignity, one of the greatest temptations of the contemporary world is to think that the value of human life depends essentially on measurable characteristics, like intelligence or the ability to communicate, without regard to the metaphysical dimension of man, as if the degree of biological perfection found in a human being contains his whole mystery and not also the metaphysical transcendence of that person. The aim of this reflection is rather to underline how the human being, besides possessing a dynamic dignity (that is fruit of evolution), is also gifted with an indelible dignity of meta-physical or divine origin.
