Rezumat
The Catalogue of the Franciscan Friars’ Library from Orăştie (1888)
The work brings forth the catalogue of the library owned by the Franciscan Monastery from Orăştie, which was created, as understood from the title, in the 19th century. The document is a part of the Roman Catholic Parochial Fund from Orăştie, it is situated in the Archdiocesan Archives of Alba Iulia and it is named Catalogus Librorum V. Residentiae Szaszvarosensis P. P. Franciscanorum Aae Prov. S. Stephani Regis Apostolici anno 1888 confectus.
The investigation follows the description of the catalogue as well as studying the content of the library, with the purpose of discovering what was, at the time, the book universe on which, the lectors of the books located in the Franciscan Monastery from Orăştie, could rely upon.
The catalogue includes 613 titles, recorded in 7 categories: Philologia, Philosophia, Jus Civile, Theologia, Jus Ecclesiasticum, Regularia, Miscellanea. A great deal of the books were published in the 19th century, but evidence suggests that there was another fund of older books, printed in the 16th-18th century, which probably entered in the collection after the year 1730, when the conventual Franciscan life in the community resumed in Orăştie.
