Rezumat
Catalogues and Cultural Transfers
Thanks to the Internet and the digital world, we are now engaged in a profound reconfiguration of techniques and practices of communication and information. Confronted with these changes, we suggest a return to the thousand-yearold history of the first tools allowing to treat the written information; namely library catalogues, lists and inventories, real instruments to classify books, to better understand and manipulate them. Their contents will vary, depending not only on the mass of data to be processed, but also on their ontological organization: a systematic classification, imperative most of the time since the late Middle Ages to the 19th century.
The logistics of catalogues is also very diverse, from following several handwritten lists, registers, printed catalogues and files up to the current computing catalogues.
Our study suggests the approach of these different aspects of the history of catalogues by dealing, in a privileged but not exclusive way, with catalogues of books and libraries. A special attention will be granted to the comparative perspective and to the problem of transfers, extremely sensible in a region – Central and Eastern Europe -, for a long time remained on the sidelines of the main circuits of production and distribution of printed matter.
