Saint Nicholas Church of Turnişor. Unwonted pages of the Parochial Chronicle
The Church of Turnişor is one of the oldest Orthodox churches in Sibiu today, and although its history is not as long or rich as that of the churches situated in the historical center of the medieval town, a series of details about the current life of the Romanians in the old village of Turnişor is reflected in a parochial chronicle written over a century by the priests who served in this church and within this community. The information illustrates the social and demographic evolution of the community as well as the challenges faced by priests in their mission. In their capacity as subjective testimonies, the information provided must also be confronted with other sources, but this does not detract from their importance or the credibility of the authors who have taken due account of what appeared to them relevant.
