Autoethnography of My Educational Experience as a Blind Person in the Romanian Education System
Abstract: The proposed text is an autoethnographic inquiry into the experiences of a blind woman student in the Romanian education system. Spanning the period from the early 2000s to the mid 2020s, the autoethnography depicts the different forms inclusion took from preschool to higher education and the tensions that arose surrounding these processes. The paper also builds on the experiences of other blind students at universities that were interviewed regarding their inclusion in higher education. The paper contributes a much-needed situated account of educational inclusion in contemporary Romanian society.
Keywords: autoethnography, disability, visual impairment, educational inclusion
