Rezumat
The Actuality of Faust’s Message
The present study is a re-reading of Goethe’s Faust from the perspective of the cultural changes undergone by contemporary Europe. The actionism of the Goethean hero, his creed that “the deed” is mostly what matters, his late conversion towards an ethical model regarding works of public utility – all these features represent, in the author’s understanding, valuable lessons for the construction of an inclusive Europe.
