The Biblical Basis of the Interreligious Dialogue of the Orthodox Perspective
The Bible has always had a central place in the inter-Christian and interfaith dialogue, around Scripture sitting down all partners to create and promote an honest and fruitful dialogue. The Bible study has become one of the essential points of this dialogue in the desire for knowledge of God and to get closer of other faiths and ideologies. Lately, the Bible began to be investigated also to find answers to the current questions facing religious man, in which should not be overlooked the reality of religious pluralism. Thus the Bible, used first only in the inter-Christian discussions, began to be investigated as a starting point for the dialogue with the followers of the other religions. In this approach, the Orthodox tradition has brought his special contribution, stressing in the mean time the close relationship that exists between Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition, the two inseparable sources of the divine Revelation. After analyzing scriptural foundations of interreligious dialogue, raises another important issue that awaits response. What is the relationship between the Holy Scripture andthe culture of a nation in which the gospel was preached? Who prevails in accepting and interpreting the message of Christ? Is the culture as important as gospel, or one subordinate to the other? Although the responses were not late to appear, the relation between the Gospel and the culture remain in interest at any time and in any territory from the world.
