Abstract: The present article aims to analyze the process of recovering marine imagery in some contemporary Romanian fictional works. The study will proceed with our study from two distinct perspectives: from the point of view of a narrator who gained experience on board ships and from the point of view of an imaginary narrator-traveler. For the case studies, a few postmodern fictions have been considered. The limits between reality and fiction are to identify the literary exotism of those texts, concluding that the idea of “recycling” the marine themes in the present Romanian literary space contributes to the detachment of those works from the body of nautical fiction which many literary critics considered as minor literature.
