From Social Memory to Literary Representation: the Novel of Transition in Post-communist Romania
The author aims to provide a brief survey on the so called “novels of transition” in post-communist Romania, focusing on fictional works published in the mid-2000. Although these novels do not establish a genre, but merely a functional category, they share some common thematic and structural characteristic. Among these, one must note not only the satirical tone, but also the questioning of social solidarity and shared past. Eventually these novels reflect how collective clichés are codified on a cultural level, through the literary process.
