Umberto Eco, Technician of The Novel
The present study is, above all, an exercise of admiration for the literary, scientific, academic and essaystic work of Umberto Eco, undoubtedly one of the most translated writers of the last century, proving an impressive stylistic and discursive versatility, wielding with equal dexterity the sober, scientific discourse of the semiotician, the playful, parodic, ironic and self-ironic rhetoric of the globetrotter from “the minimal diaries” and, not least, the narrative discourse, excellently built on technical premises, wich, at some point, he does not hesitate to unveil, more precisely in “Confessions of A Young Novelist”.
Keywords: Umberto Eco, technique of the novel, narrative discourse, fictional world, literary convention.
