”Know yourself ”. Controversial Aspects of Socratic Maieutics

Socrates (470/469-399 BC) is a leading figure of ancient Greek philosophy, on the one hand because of its innovative thinking that resulted within Athenian society so strong that hostility has reached his condemnation to death for atheism, corrupting youth, and introducing new gods, and on the other hand due to the fact that base their vision of man, world and life on solid scientific grounds and therefore no longer concerned about the
philosophy of nature or metaphysical matters, but the problem of building human existence. What is however selfknowledge? Can we to know ourselves? Modern psychological sciences, especially psychoanalysis shows us how human unconscious is unknown and that there is strong springs in the deeper structures of the human psyche.
Keywords: Socrates, self-knowledge, What is however self-knowledge?
