Romanian Literature in school fifties
„Decree no. 175/1948 regarding Educational Reform” meant, among other things, placing the Romanian educational system under the doctrinaire sign of the communism of Soviet extraction. An essential component of subjects taught at high school level along the fifties, literature became not only an instrument of political propaganda, but also one of forming approximate consciences, structured around rudimentary Manichaeist ideological principles, and almost exclusively based on doctrine. Following the 1950 Provisional Theses of Romanian Literary History, the 1952 curriculum is one of the documents which sets out the full ideologisation of this subject.
